Often when confronted with the term death, a dark and morbid association is made. With this brief I wanted to steer away from those associations. In my designs I wanted to portray from a scientific view point the visual equivalent of death. Therefore I did in depth research about the brain and the components that create various experiences when dying.

N,N-dimethyltryptamine, DMT is a psychedelic compound that is abundantly found in the human body and the natural world. Rick Strassman, MD, said that DMT "seems to actually be a necessary component of normal brain function." Human beings produce this molecule whilst asleep, in the early years of life and right before death in vast quantities. It is the most powerful psychedelic known to man and has been deemed 'the spirit molecule'.

I wanted to create a visual experience that is visually appealing to the viewer. Therefore the viewer can see death as an insightful, beautiful - and fun experience. I wanted to create a sense of "Oh I want to try this". Normalizing the idea of death and that it really isn't as bad a thing as people make it out to be.
